Two tour buses have collided on the Aurora Avenue Bridge, also known as the George Washington Bridge, in the Seattle area.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. this morning when a coach tour bus and duck tour bus collided in the middle of the bridge span, King 5 News reports. The crash ripped the side of the tour bus open and several other vehicles are involved in the pileup.
According to the Seattle Fire Department, there have been two confirmed fatalities and nine critical injuries. Approximately 50 people are being evaluated at the scene of the crash.
Seattle Police has closed the roadway in both directions to both vehicles and pedestrians. An investigation is underway.
- UPDATE at 1:26 p.m.: The death toll has risen to at least 4 people.
