Movies at MARKET by Jean-Georges returns to Vancouver this fall

MARKET by Jean-Georges, the hotel restaurant in the Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver has resumed its Movies at MARKET series this fall.

Combining a screening of a feature film with a sophisticated meal at MARKET by Jean-Georges restaurant, Movies at MARKET is no ordinary trip to the pictures.

The series, which resumed in October, takes place in a plush private theatre of the Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver, complete with leather seats, Champagne and gourmet popcorn.

And that’s just the beginning of it.

When the film ends, guests are ushered down to the Georgia Dining Room in MARKET by Jean-Georges, where each party is served a private four-course dinner, the menu of which has not only been carefully created by Chef de Cuisine Montgomery Lay but also inspired by the film of the night.

The outcome? A unique cinema experience that food lovers and film buffs will love.

The Movies at MARKET series returns twice monthly and runs through to December, with the next screening taking place on November 7 and 8.

The evening commences at 5 p.m. at the hotel’s 36-seat Blue Moon Theatre where guests are greeted with a glass of bubbly upon arrival. Then at 5:30 p.m. as the lights dim, guests are asked to settle into their seats to watch the night’s feature film.

In November Movies at MARKET will be screening Red Obsession, a 2013 fast-paced Australian documentary which depicts a group of interviews with winemakers and wine lovers from around the globe.
