Movember for dogs

Moustaches aren’t just for men this Movember.

A Vancouver pet apparel company has released a limited-edition moustache collar to support Movember Canada.

All proceeds of the Danes & Divas turquoise moustache dog collar, which sells for $20, go to charity.

The cause is close to owner Shalla Black’s heart. Her company started stitching up the Movember collars last year after learning her best friend’s father was diagnosed with late-stage prostate cancer. He lost his battle to the disease earlier this year.

“It may be odd to hear of a pet accessories company that donates to men’s health programs like Movember, but I think it’s a reflection of how human we all really are,” she told Vancity Buzz.

The collar fits dogs of all sizes, and the best part is that it’s machine-washable.

“Because moustache-anything is very on-trend right now, we thought ‘what better way to help raise awareness and funds for Movember Canada than with our dog collars?’” she said.

The collar is available online at www.danesanddivas.com as well as its Etsy shop, www.danesanddivas.etsy.com.

Local pick up of orders are available in Cloverdale at Elemental Canine if customers use the promo code CUSTOMERPICKUP at checkout.

The Movember community has raised $574-million to improve the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues.
