If you’re looking to show some love to local restaurants this year, be sure to check out the MOSAIC restaurant project, it’s a great way to pay it forward.

This BC organization helps newcomers build their lives and settle into Canadian society, and now, it’s teamed up with some top culinary destinations in town for a great cause.

This restaurant initiative was spearheaded by Vij’s Restaurant co-owner and MOSAIC board member Meeru Dhalwala.

It was created to support local eateries and immigrant and refugee families.

Along with Vij’s, Dhalwala recruited other local restaurants to be part of the initiative including Ubuntu, Burdock & Co, Community Harvest, Autostrada, and The Acorn.

All of these spots are now selling gift certificates dedicated to MOSAIC families, you can find links to purchase these on their respective websites.

“We care about the cultural vibrancy of our city and connecting our creative businesses with our world—from sustainable/regenerative agriculture to equality for all peoples,” says Dhalwala.

“And now we want to connect our cuisines with new families who can’t afford to dine out or do take-out/delivery but would LOVE a break from all the hardships of settling into a new country (in winter!) in the midst of a pandemic.”

If you wish to make a donation directly to MOSAIC to support their programs for children and families, youth, and seniors, you can do so here.
