One person dead after early morning gas station fire in Surrey: RCMP

Investigators are on the scene in Surrey after a “large structure fire” that took place early Monday morning.

According to a police statement, the Surrey Fire Service and Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a gas station fire at approximately 5:30 am.

The blaze was located at the 8700-blocks of Harvie Road and, unfortunately, one person passed away as a result of the incident.

Cst. Richard Wright, Media Relations Officer for the Surrey RCMP, says in an email that “once the fire was deemed under control and the area could be searched, one person was located inside the gas station deceased.”

Investigators are now working with the Surrey Fire Service, but the exact cause of the fire is not yet known.
