Police are investigating two structure fires that occurred in North Vancouver on Tuesday morning.

Just before 6:45 am, RCMP received reports of a structure fire at the Lynn Valley Lodge, located on the 1300 blocks of Lynn Valley Road.

A few moments later, police were notified of a second structure fire at the Duke of Connaught Lodge (North Vancouver Masonic Centre) on the 1100 blocks of Lonsdale Avenue. According to a police statement, the centre was “fully engulfed” as fire crews battled the flames.

Sergeant Peter DeVries says that RCMP is in “the very early stages” of the investigation and is working to uncover if the two incidents are related.

“As the investigation unfolds, we will gain a better understanding of the cause of these fires, whether or not they are related, and if the evidence will establish that these were, in fact, the result of arson,” he says.
