It’ll be winter before you know it, and if your goal this upcoming season is to finally learn how to ski, there’s one Canadian destination you should add to your bucket list.

The 2026 Snomad Ski Resort Awards have been announced, ranking spots around the world across various categories based on nearly 154,000 ratings from skiers and snowboarders during the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Mont Tremblant in Quebec was crowned the best ski resort in North America for beginners.

The resort earned an impressive 4.40 out of five rating, with skiers and snowboarders praising its “perfect snow conditions,” lack of crowds, and best value for money.

A typical ski day at Mont Tremblant costs around $156 for an adult and $117 for youths aged 13 to 17. Access to the learning zone (excluding the high peak season from Dec. 27, 2026 to Jan. 2, 2027) costs around $48 for adults and $36 for youths.

The resort has 103 ski trails spread across four different sides, covering more than 80 kilometres of terrain. Its summit sits 875 metres above sea level, offering some pretty spectacular views of the surrounding Laurentian Mountains.

According to Snomad, one of the things that makes Mont Tremblant stand out is its beginner-friendly layout, with 15 lifts servicing both the upper and lower sections of the mountain.

This means beginners can build their confidence on the slopes without having to commit to massive descents right away.

The supportive environment is another big plus. First-time snowboarders praised the short lift lines of less than five minutes, and “the runs were great with good run time.”

There are plenty of other winter activities to try once you make it to the mountain, including snowshoeing, ice skating, and snow tubing.

If you’re curious about how other resorts ranked, Sun Peaks in B.C. took the top spot for best overall ski resort in North America, followed by Revelstoke, also in B.C., and Alberta’s Lake Louise.

And if you’re dreaming of skiing overseas, France’s Val d’Isère was crowned the world’s best overall ski resort, followed by Livigno and Val Gardena, both located in Italy.
