Support South Asian culture at the 2019 Monsoon Festival of Performing Arts

Jul 31 2019, 1:17 am

The Monsoon Festival of Performing Arts is returning to Metro Vancouver this August.

The five-day event, entering its fourth annual year, celebrates South Asian culture, local performing arts, and its artists in the industry.

Over the course of the festival, attendees can take part in free staged readings, talkbacks, developmental workshops, and one of the festival highlights — a stand-up comedy night featuring some of Greater Vancouver’s finest comedians.

Monsoon’s stand-up comedy night will take place on Friday, August 9, kicking off the festival at the Elements Casino in Surrey.

Comedians include Rae Lynn Carson, Ash Dhawan, Rajneesh Dhawan, Al Hassam, Devon Kandola, and Leena Manro, with the talented and humourous Kalyn Miles as the night’s host.

A cash bar and dinner menu will be available on-site.

Once the show is over, the night will continue with an afterparty featuring High Voltage Roadshow’s DJ Beatdrop.

Doors for the event open at 8:30 pm, with the show beginning at 9:30 pm.

Tickets for the comedy night can be purchased online for $20, or at the door for $30, and is strictly 19+.

More information on the Monsoon Festival’s comedy night, as well as workshops and readings, can be found online.
