MLS legends congratulate Vancouver Whitecaps' Brian White on 100 goals

Only a select few strikers have scored 100 goals in MLS competition.

Now the Vancouver Whitecaps’ Brian White is one of them.

White’s goal in the 41st minute of the Whitecaps’ 4-1 win over San Diego FC was his 100th MLS goal — 95 in the regular season and five in the playoffs.

White was welcomed to the MLS Century Club by six of its legendary members in a video posted by the Whitecaps on social media: Taylor Twellman, Dwayne De Rosario, Bradley Wright-Phillips, Landon Donovan, Jason Kreis, and former Whitecap Kei Kamara.

“Welcome to the Century Club,” said Kamara. “Kei Kamara here, a former Whitecap. That’s right, we’re repping.”

White’s 100th was a classic Brian White goal, as he soared above the San Diego backline to head home the cross from Oliver Larraz.

“It’s a nice achievement, something I’ve always wanted and had my eyes on, if I’m being honest,” said White after the match, though he noted his focus is on a team goal. “These things are nice, but we want to win the MLS Cup. I want to win the MLS Cup. That’s first and foremost on my mind.”

The Whitecaps can take a solid step towards that MLS Cup by clinching first place in the Western Conference with a win on Sunday, which would ensure home-field advantage all the way to the Conference Final in the playoffs.

White’s century goal was his 18th of the MLS season, a career high for the 30-year-old striker.

White had 16 MLS goals for the New York Red Bulls when he joined the Whitecaps in 2021 in a trade for general allocation money. Since then, White has scored 84 MLS goals for the Whitecaps and become their all-time leading goalscorer.
