Another day, another ice cream shop opens in Vancouver. This time Yaletown gets its very own liquid nitrogen ice cream parlour.
Projected to open early June, Mister (located at 1141 Mainland Street) will serve nitrogen-churned artisanal ice cream, which boasts noticeably smaller ice crystals thanks to a rapid freezing process.
Not only does the chill blast of liquid nitrogen emit an impressive evaporating mist (get it “Mist-er”), which customers can view from across the glass counter, but it also creates an ultra smooth scoop.
Shop owners Michael Lai and Tommy Choi were inspired to bring the liquid nitrogen process to Vancouver after discovering the unique product on their travels.
Made-to-order in one of Mister’s colorful mixers, the liquid nitrogen ice cream will be available in range of unique flavours, which will rotate regularly depending on season. Examples include Creme Brûlée, Avocado, Dark Chocolate, Lemon Frozen Yogurt, and Double Oreo. Fresh-made pints available for take-out will also be up for grabs.
Ingredients for Mister’s all-natural ice cream will be sourced from local farmers and the B.C. based community.
Receiving a complete facelift, the Mainland Street space that once housed Sweet Bake Shop has been reworked by Vancouver design and architecture firm Scott & Scott, with the minimalist branding (completed by Brief Studio) representing the silhouette of Mister’s ice cream cups.
