Times are tense among Vancouver Canucks fans.
The team has won just twice in regulation over their last 17 games. They’re currently 30th overall in the NHL standings.
That prompted the team to send out a memo on Monday to all 31 NHL teams that they are open to trading veteran players.
The Canucks’ lack of success has many fans vocally upset on talk shows and social media about the direction of the team.
One fan who isn’t as critical about the team’s direction? That would be one of their most famous fans, Michael Bublé.
The 50-year-old singer replied to a social media post Monday evening, criticizing not the head coach or the management team, but Canucks fans themselves.
Canucks Army posted a photo on Instagram with the report that the Canucks have made veteran players available, prompting Canucks fans to make their own suggestions on ousting veterans.
“Can we trade the owners as well?” one fan said.
“Does this include our veteran President of Hockey Ops?” said another.
That led Bublé to voice his own opinion.
“Reading these comments sucks,” he wrote. “What a sh*t fan base we are. With fans like us, karma will always give us what we deserve.”
The five-time Grammy winner wasn’t done there, as he even replied to a few fans who gave their thoughts on his post.
One fan asked Bublé what he thinks the Canucks should do. Here’s how he replied.
“No one in management can be blamed for what happened with JT [Miller],” he wrote, “or the brutal amount of injuries and bad luck. They’ve drafted pretty well, and if Quinn doesn’t want to re-sign, that’s not their fault either. They’re dealt the hand, and they play it.”
“I like the management team, and while I hate losing like this, I see a lot of light at the end of this tunnel. Great young D core. Up-and-coming goalies. And some very good players who wanna be here. Might be a sh*t year, but I think we’re gonna be ok.”
“Jim [Rutherford] has won at every level. Calder, Memorial, Stanley Cups. Guy knows how to win. Let Toronto and Oilers fans panic. I think very soon, we’ll be the team to beat. And then the world can hate us again as the cocky assh*le fans we were meant to be.”
Bublé wasn’t quite done with his late-night jousting with Canucks fans, as he replied to one commenter who told him to “go cry in your million-dollar ice rink you have in your basement.”
“I’ll buy you a train ticket,” Bublé replied. “Move to Calgary 👋.”
This isn’t the first time Bublé has been overtly positive about the direction of the Canucks, and the moves that the management team has made.
Earlier this year on Donnie and Dhali, the Burnaby resident said that he loved the J.T. Miller trade and was excited about the addition of Marcus Pettersson.
During that interview, he also touched on the dwindling number of Canucks players compared to the guys he met at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game.
“I walk by a poster in my basement almost daily, and it’s of me coaching and standing beside Elias Lindholm, [Quinn] Hughes, [Elias] Pettersson, J.T. and Thatcher [Demko], and it’s the All-Star Game.
“I just walk past it and go, ‘Oh, how did that happen?’”
