The Stream of Dreams Murals Society is casting its fishing lines far and wide to reel in children and their families to ride the Metropolis Express “Salmon Train” at Metropolis at Metrotown during the Month of October, with a special challenge day on October 23. All donations received from those who ride the Metropolis Express during the month of October will go to support keeping our Beautiful British Columbia creeks, streams, rivers and ocean clean and healthy for all living things!

Train Your Charity: The Metropolis Express Fall 2010 Challenge is Metropolis at Metrotown’s most aggressive community giveback initiative yet. Their goal is to help Burnaby-based organizations continue their selfless acts of good in the community. Four organizations were selected to participate in the Challenge and designed one month this Fall, during which each will receive a grant amounting to the funds donated to the Metropolis Express, a trackless train that transports mall shoppers for a minimum $1 donation. Each of the four organizations chose a day during their respected month to boost Metropolis Express use through innovative and unique marketing campaigns. The participating organization that secures the most train donations during its one-day Challenge will receive a Grand Prize Grant of $10,000 in addition to all train donations that month.

Here’s how you the readers of Vancity Buzz can help! Ride the Metropolis Express “Salmon Train” when you visit Metropolis at Metrotown during the month of October. Show your support by taking one of the following challenges:

• Take a picture of yourself on the Metropolis Express “Salmon Train”, post it on the Stream of Dreams Murals Society Facebook page. Help us reach our goal of 500 ‘Fishy Photos’ and let us know if you are one of the more than 115,000 people who have already experienced the magic of painting a Dreamfish.

• Join us at Metropolis at Metrotown on October 23 between the hours of 11am and 7pm to decorate a silver Salmon to adorn the train and transform the Metropolis Express into a run of silver salmon! Help us reach our goal of 500 BC Silver Salmon. And be sure to ride the train and make a donation.

• School Challenge: On October 23, make a salmon for the train, ride the Metropolis Express Salmon Train and tell us what school you want to see a Stream of Dreams come to! The elementary school with the most riders will win prepared fish for their Stream of Dreams eco-education and community art program.

This is your opportunity to support your community learning how we are all connected to fish habitat and how we can prevent water pollution in our streams. So hop on board the Metropolis Express “Salmon Train” on October 23 and throughout the rest of October.
