Canada Day is right around the corner, and luckily, the weather is expected to turn around, just in time to enjoy weekend festivities.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada’s (ECCC) latest forecast, the sunshine will settle in starting on Friday with highs of 20°C. The same conditions are expected for Saturday, with a high of 21°C.

Conditions will improve slightly on Sunday, as highs are expected to reach 23°C. Monday will be even hotter, with temperatures forecast to hit 25°C and remain steady for Canada Day.

ECCC reports that inland temperatures feel much warmer on Monday and Tuesday, reaching 28°C inland.

In a previous interview with Daily Hive, ECCC meteorologist Bobby Sekhon noted that the temperature difference between coastal and inland regions runs on a “gradient.”

Highs near the water will be generally cooler, but in areas like the Fraser Valley, Pitt Meadows, and Surrey, temperatures get higher, hitting those hotter marks.

The region has experienced cooler weather over the past few days, and unfortunately, the rain will stick around today and Thursday, before the sunshine returns.

Thankfully, the Canada Day forecast is looking clear and bright, meaning folks can enjoy all the outdoor celebrations, including free fireworks shows around Metro Vancouver.
