Jan 7 2020, 4:50 pm

Environment Canada’s rainfall warning continues as a Pacific frontal system moves over the South Coast of British Columbia.

The warning was first issued early on Monday morning and is in effect for the following areas:

  • Metro Vancouver – North Shore including West Vancouver and North Vancouver
  • Metro Vancouver – northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge

The heavy rain, which began on Monday evening, is expected to continue throughout the morning and afternoon. Environment Canada says that the system will likely ease up later in the day, as the storm system leaves the region.

In total, between 60 to 90 mm of precipitation is expected. There’s also the possibility of flash flooding, water pooling, and localized flooding.

Environment Canada’s winter storm warning over the interior of BC also remains in effect.
