You may want to change your weekend plan to indoors, because the weather in Metro Vancouver is about to get mighty wet for the next few days.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a rainfall warning for a new frontal system, expected to drench B.C.’s South Coast starting on midday Saturday, Nov. 22.
However, the rain has already started in Metro Vancouver, making for a slick commute home and a soggy start to the weekend.

According to the ECCC, between 50 and 70 mm of rain is expected for the region.
Significant rainfall is expected in several parts of Metro Vancouver, including the North Shore (West Vancouver and North Vancouver), as well as in the northeast part of the region (including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge).
“A Pacific frontal system will bring heavy rain to parts of the South Coast this weekend,” said the ECCC in its alert. “Light rain will intensify to periods of heavy rain on Saturday and ease Sunday morning with the passage of the system.”

ECCC also warned that water is likely to pool on roads and in low-lying areas, and that visibility may suddenly be reduced at times.
“Allow extra time for travel,” it added.
