Winning $8 million Lotto 6/49 ticket sold near Metro Vancouver

Someone near Metro Vancouver woke up a few million dollars richer on Sunday.

A Lotto 6/49 ticket sold in Aldergrove matched all six numbers from Saturday night’s $8 million draw. A second winning ticket was sold in Quebec, so the jackpot will be split into two $4.2 million prizes.

According to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), the odds of winning a Lotto 6/49 jackpot are 1 in 13,983,816.

The matching numbers were 5, 17, 21, 29, 41, and 43.

As well, a ticket purchased in North Vancouver has won theĀ $1 million Guaranteed Prize.

All lottery prize winners have 52 weeks from the draw date printed on their ticket to claim their prize, the BCLC said.

The specific retail location where the winning lottery ticket was purchased, and the lottery winnersā€™ name will be announced after the they come forward.

In 2020, BC lottery players redeemed more than $106 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49. The nationwide lottery game is drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 pm PST.
