Metro Vancouver farmers' market guide 2015

Here in Vancouver we are fortunate to be surrounded by an abundance of fresh, locally-grown produce. While the city proper houses numerous farmers’ markets, including many that are year-round, for those who live, work, play, and shop in Vancouver’s adjoining communities, there are still several such markets to choose from.


With the warm weather months upon us, here is our guide to the Metro Vancouver farmers’ markets.


Ambleside Farmers’ Market

The Ambleside Farmers’ Market provides West Vancouver with a gathering spot for picking up fresh local food, and goods from crafters and food artisans.

Day/Time: Sundays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Dates: May 3 to October 25, 2015
Location: 1500 block Bellevue (between 15th & 16th), West Vancouver

Lonsdale Quay Farmers’ Market

Run by the same organization behind the Ambleside Market in nearby West Van, the Lonsdale Quay Farmers’ Market brings local farmers, artisans, and other vendors to North Vancouver for a weekly Saturday market.

Day/Time: Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Dates: May 2 to October 24, 2015
Location: East Plaza at 123 Carrie Cates Court, North Vancouver

Shipyards Night Market

The Shipyards Night market features food trucks, live music, numerous vendors and a beer garden. The Shipyards Plaza is the a perfect North Van destination to bike, walk, rollerblade or bus/SeaBus to and relax at the Pier, take in the sights, sunsets, shop, eat and be entertained.

Day/Time: Fridays, 5 to 10 p.m.

Steveston Farmers and Artisans Market

Head to Richmond for this fun recurring marketplace in picturesque Steveston Village. Launched in May 2008, this open-air market, adjacent to the Cannery, is where local farmers, artists and craftspersons gather to welcome shoppers.

Day/Time: Select Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dates: May 10 & 24, June 7 & 21, July 5 & 19, August 2 & 16 & 30, September 6 & 20, October 11 & 25

Richmond Country Farms

Richmond Country Farms is the farm stand adjacent to Highway 99 off Steveston. Open from early spring to just ahead of Christmas, the market has a bounty of fresh local produce, and prepared good (like pie!).

Day/Time: Daily 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Dates: April 9 to December 23
Location: 12900 Steveston Hwy, Richmond


Burnaby Farmers’ Market

Burnaby residents can head out Saturday mornings to City Hall to get to know their farmers and enjoy a day at the market. The Burnaby Farmers’ Market is the third of the trio of markets run by Artisan Markets, who also run the Lonsdale Quay and Ambleside markets.

Day/Time: Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dates: May 2 to October 24, 2015

Tsawwassen Saturday Market

Taking place on the farmland adjacent to the Earthwise Society, this charming market is one of the newest in the region, and is expanding this year to include food trucks and more participants. It’s always sunny in Tsawwassen, too!

Day/Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dates: May 9 to October 31, 2015
Location: Southlands Market Square, 6400 3rd Avenue (next to Earthwise Society, across from Centennial Beach in Boundary Bay)

Ladner Village Market

One of Metro Vancouver’s favourite and enduring markets is the Ladner Village Market, which takes over the heart of Ladner Village on select Sundays in the summertime. It’s a phenomenal market, with live music, tons of vendors, and much to see and taste.

Day/Time: Select Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

North Delta Farmers’ Market

The North Delta Farmers’ Market moves to the Sungod Rec Centre this season for a reinvigorated weekly market.

Day/Time: Sundays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Surrey Urban Farmers’ Market

Head to Surrey’s vibrant City Hall Plaza for the weekly Urban Farmers’ market on Wednesday afternoons. This year they’re adding monthly features like recipe demonstrations, art displays, local vendor showcases and more.

Day/Time: Wednesdays. 1 to 6 p.m.
Dates: June 10 to October 7, 2015
Location: Surrey City Hall Plaza, 13450 104th Ave, Surrey

White Rock Farmers’ Market

Live music, over 80 vendors, and great local produce and food products make the White Rock Farmers’ Market a great community event for South Surrey and White Rock.

Day/Time: Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dates: May 24 to October 11, 2015

Royal City Farmers’ Market

New West’s Royal City Farmers’ Market features farm-fresh produce, plants, quality crafts from local artists and artisans, gourmet prepared foods, community information, live entertainment, and more, all at Tipperary Park on Thursday evenings.

Day/Time: Thursdays 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Dates: May 21 to October 8, 2015

Poirier Street Farmers Market

Started in 1996, the Poirier Street Farmers Market is the longest running suburban farmers market in Metro Vancouver. At this market you’ll find hosts a diversity of vendors showcasing their locally-sourced products.

Day/Time: Sundays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Dates: May 10 to Oct 25, 2015
Location: Dogwood Pavilion (Poirier and Winslow) in Coquitlam

Haney Farmers Market

Downtown Maple Ridge is enlivened every Saturday with a weekly market at Memorial Peace Park.

Day/Time: Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dates: May 9 to October 10, 2015
Location: Memorial Peace Park on 224th Street, Maple Ridge

Port Coquitlam Farmers Market

Inspired by, and created in collaboration with the Haney Farmers’ Market Society, the Port Coquitlam Farmers’ Market is part of a larger plan to strengthen Port Coquitlam’s downtown centre through arts, cultural and heritage programming.

Day/Time: Thursdays, 3 to 7 p.m.

Langley Community Farmers Market

On Wednesday afternoons in the warm weather months at the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Campus you will find more than 40 vendors that “Make it, Bake it or Grow it” selling the very best the region has to offer.

Fort Langley Village Farmers Market

Fort Langley offers a weekly market for getting fresh foods picked from local farmers fields in the Fraser and Okanagan Valleys, along with plants, flowers, and other artisan goods.

Day/Time: Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Dates: May 9 to October 31, 2015
