Metric at The Commodore June 23, 2012

Metric fans have a chance to be among the first to hear the band’s new album live – at an exclusive Canadian show! Synthetica is the Toronto-based quartet’s fifth album and the highly anticipated follow up to 2009’s Fantasies. Presented by Rogers, the June 23 concert at the Commodore Ballroom will be one of Metric’s first performances following the June 12 release of the new album.

Access to the event is limited, but beginning on June 11 fans will have multiple opportunities for a chance to win tickets. Details on each entry point are below.

Starting June 11 at 7:30 a.m. PST fans can enter for chance to win a national contest (excluding Quebec) at for a trip to Vancouver for them and one friend (prize includes airfare, hotel accommodations, tickets to the show, and spending money). Rogers Wireless Box Office

Rogers customers can also enter for a chance to win tickets to the show by being one of the first 200 fans to log onto, grab the special PIN code for METRIC and enter it into the Rogers Wireless Box Office (URL link to be revealed on June 18 at NOON PST). Rogers Stores

Activate any new smartphone from June 15-22 at a participating Rogers store and receive a pair of tickets to the show. Participating store list available at See in store for details. Media Contesting

Various Lower Mainland radio stations will be randomly giving away a limited amount of tickets to the show on-air and online over the upcoming weeks. Plus tune in to City TV’s Breakfast Television on June 18 and Sonic FM’s Freebie Fridays on June 22 for your chance to win tickets.

On their last album, Fantasies, Metric became the first act in history to achieve their first ever Top 20 hit on U.S. commercial radio without the backing of a traditional label; they have also sold out arenas and headlined festivals; picked up JUNO Awards for “Alternative Album of the Year” and “Band of the Year”; had a hand in scoring films for everyone from Edgar Wright to David Cronenberg, and wrote the theme song for the Grammy nominated and Academy Award shortlisted Twilight: Eclipse soundtrack with composer Howard Shore. They performed “Gimme Sympathy” at a private event for the Queen of England.
