Mellomanic release new video for “Road Ahead” ahead of Vancouver performance

Vancouver-based folk band Mellomanic have just released a new music video for their song, “Road Ahead.”

The video, directed by Rebecca Strom, is the first of two new videos set to be released this summer. “Road Ahead” was filmed live off the floor in a church sanctuary and sees members Joshua Larsson (vocals), Megan Chilibeck (vocals, keys), Ryan Krumins (guitar, keys), Clark Buchanan (bass) and Sam Buckle (drums) up close and personal in intimate screen shots as they work their way through the emotive track.

The stripped-down style of the video suits the earthy tones of “Road Ahead,” which is layered with contemplative strums, soft piano notes and evocative harmonizing vocals. The song fits nicely into Mellomanic’s catalog, which made its debut in 2014 with the two rootsy singles “Send Me Down The River” and “Stardust.”

Mellomanic is now gearing up for a performance at The Roxy Launch Project Showcase #3 — a competition put on by The Roxy and Nimbus School of Recording on August 13 that gives local bands a chance to win $2,500 cash, a professionally produced single, distribution via Universal Records and a booking contract. The band will hit the stage at The Roxy at 8:30 p.m. to play a 30 minute set that promises to include some new music.
