Freestyle skier Megan Oldham has won bronze in women’s slopestyle, for Canada’s second medal of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

The 24-year-old from Parry Sound, Ont. saved her best for last in this competition, in which the best of three runs counts for your final score.

After a spectacular crash on her second run, Oldham dusted herself off and posted a 76.46, which put her narrowly ahead of Great Britain’s Kristy Muir (76.05).

“Honestly, that was a really hard battle after that second run. I fell and really hurt my quad,” Oldham said in a television interview with CBC. “At the top, I tried to stay calm. I kept telling myself, ‘I just need to land one more run, and that’s all I gotta do.’ I’m so proud of myself.”

Mathilde Gremaud of Switzerland won gold (86.96), while American-born Eileen Gu of China claimed silver (86.58).

Canada’s Naomi Urness of Mont-Tremblant, Que., finished seventh.

This is the second Olympics for Oldham, who finished 13th in slopestyle and fourth in big air at Beijing 2022.

Oldham has a chance to pick up a second medal in big air, which begins on Saturday.

Canada now has two medals in Italy, both bronze.
