I spent the afternoon with a superhero doing regular things like making eggs and trying on spandex. Nightwing was dressed in casual clothes for our meeting, odd for a man so accustomed to tighter materials. Myself and Brady Roberts (his human name) discussed his other life has a wrestler, the making of the web-series Nightwing: Prodigal The Series and just how bad-ass the costumes really are.
Nightwing: Prodigal The Series is a non profit, fan made series that shot in Vancouver over eight days, and will air four episodes (approximately 10-12 minutes each). While more than 50 people volunteered as cast, crew and extras, there are some names in particular that should be recognized. Director Kyle James Patrick, DP Bruce Borland, Head of Makeup Lindsay McMillan, Costume Designer Brian Milne, Wardrobe Stylist Natasha Duffin and of course the man behind the mask, Producer/Star Brady Roberts.
Nightwing is essentially Robin all grown up and angry. He returns to Gotham City to solve the mystery of Batman’s disappearance, while uncovering the ancient society the Court of Owls. The Court has paid off Gotham’s worst to stop Nightwing in his tracks. The original trailer has about 260,000 hits, and was a finalist in the Machinima Film Festival. Watch for the series to launch mid-late April, with official announcements on their Facebook page (Nightwing: Prodigal The Series).
