Through collaboration with the local community, building owners, current and future businesses, developers and realtors, the Strathcona Business Improvement Association is creating a comprehensive strategy and vision to revitalize one of the main artery streets of Strathcona: East Hastings.
Focusing on creating a vibrant and safer street, the vision for East Hastings is to have more independent businesses with both a retail front and a light industrial component. Businesses like restaurants, cafes, breweries and locally made products that have a manufacturing component are a major part of the future vision of the area. These four key sectors will bring liveliness, attract pedestrians, sustain growth and bring unique charm and individualism to East Hastings.
In order to give the public a taste of what’s to come, the Meet the Makers Expo will be a highly unique one-day event that will highlight some of the thriving businesses in the area. Come experience one-of-a-kind interactive workshops and demonstrations, enjoy locally products, including food and beer samples, and learn about how businesses are making it in Strathcona.
