Why the “Meet the Makers Expo”?

Through collaboration with the local community, building owners, current and future businesses, developers and realtors, the Strathcona Business Improvement Association is creating a comprehensive strategy and vision to revitalize one of the main artery streets of Strathcona: East Hastings.

Focusing on creating a vibrant and safer street, the vision for East Hastings is to have more independent businesses with both a retail front and a light industrial component. Businesses like restaurants, cafes, breweries and locally made products that have a manufacturing component are a major part of the future vision of the area. These four key sectors will bring liveliness, attract pedestrians, sustain growth and bring unique charm and individualism to East Hastings.
