A medical marijuana summit is coming to Vancouver today, October 1, to bring together industry professionals, from producers to facility engineers and medical practitioners to discuss everything pot related.
The Canadian Marihuana For Medical Purposes Summit aims to address political leaders and healthcare professionals to raise awareness of the benefits of medical marijuana and for people aiming to work in the industry to network.

On the docket for discussion are recent changes and updates to Health Canada regarding medical marijuana, legal and regulatory updates, and trends and developments in methods of ingestion or “application”, and digital marketing and branding, among other things.
Close to 20 speakers are set to present on the industry from across Canada and around the world, including Cheryl Shuman, owner of the Beverly Hills Cannabis Club. Shuman claims she was successful using medical cannabis as part of her cancer treatments.
Medical marijuana has been a hot topic in Vancouver. With multitudes of dispensaries popping up, the City of Vancouver voted back in June to approve regulations on them.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University started offering two online courses on medical marijuana last month. The courses detail how to produce marijuana, the legalities and regulations of the industry, medical conditions, and marketing and sales.
“Working closely with industry leaders on course material has ensured students will receive accurate information on this highly regulated industry,” said Deepak Anand, Executive Director for the Canadian National Medical Marijuana Association on the two courses offered at KPU. Anand is also speaking at the summit today.
