Mountain Equipment Co-op is proud to present the 6th annual MEC Bikefest. This year’s festivities will be taking place on Saturday, June 14 at the Athletes Village Plaza on False Creek from 10:00am – 3:00pm.
MEC Bikefest is an urban celebration of bikes and cycling culture in the heart of Vancouver. A family-friendly festival geared towards everyone from kids, commuters to avid road cycling enthusiasts.
Admission to MEC Bikefest is free of charge with optional paid & free clinics. Clinic listing and registration available through the MEC events site and includes bike maintenance clinics, nutritional talks, strength & conditioning, yoga for cyclists, childrens road safety and even an expert hill climbing clinic with MEC envoy Allan Prazsky.
The goal with Bikefest has always been to promote the fantastic cycling culture that exists already in Vancouver. Whether it’s someone practicing active and environmentally conscious urban transit, or an aspiring road cyclist preparing for their first Fondo, we want to celebrate all of Vancouver’s cycling activity and to support members in progressing.
Last year, over 4000 people attended MEC Bikefest and attendance is expected to grow for this year’s festival. Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in the numerous clinics and activities being offered by local vendors and MEC alike. Events include fixed bicycle race competitions, bike demos from MEC, Dunbar Cycles, eProdigy and Stromer, children’s activities, MEC Gear Swap along with complimentary bike check ups courtesy of our MEC bike mechanics, bike valet and bike engraving.
