Mayor Gregor Robertson takes the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (VIDEO)

Finally, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge arrives at Vancouver City Hall.

If you’ve been longing to see Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson doused in multiple buckets of cold, icy water (for whatever reason) here’s your chance. The civic leader accepted numerous nominations to participate in the viral video fundraising campaign which made its way to Vancouver recently thanks to some Cancuks players and other local celebs.

In the video, Robertson is helped by some eager soccer players to dump a few buckets on the mayor’s head in the name of charity. Robertson asserts he made a donation to ALS.ca, and urges others do the same.

As is the tradition, Robertson ends his video by nominating others to participate. Robertson’s list is pretty extensive: Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi, Assembly of First Nations B.C. Regional Chief Jody Wilson-Raybould, Vision Vancouver City Council candidate Niki Sharma, and all of the Vancouver City Council. That’s a baker’s dozen nominees to get doused in the name of charity.

Sadly, Canada’s big man in office, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, has declined to accept the challenge from actor Leonardo Di Caprio to take part in the ice bucket challenge. He recently tweeted:

Other Metro Vancouver politicians taking the icy challenge include Surrey Coun. Barinder Rasode, Port Coquitlam Mayor Greg Moore, Delta Mayor Lois E. Jackson, and Maple Ridge Mayor Ernie Daykin, among others. Here are Jackson’s and Rasode’s videos:
