Massive water park outside Vancouver reopens for the summer

Aug 5 2020, 5:00 pm

Summer just got a little more fun as nearby wet and wild Big Splash Water Slide Park announced its reopening effective July 1.

The timing of the reopening couldn’t be more ideal as summer is in full fledge and people are seeking seasonal activities for the whole family.

To ensure the comfort and safety of all guests, the park will be operating at 35% capacity to ensure everyone has sufficient space to move around freely. Visitors will also be asked to physically distance from other families and groups.

Additional safety precautions have also been put in place to ensure that staff and guests alike feel safe while splashing around in the sunshine and gliding through the park’s abundant waterslides.

The park will be conducting temperature checks and screenings for all guests and employees upon entry. Limitations on the number of people that can be in pools and hot tubs at once, sanitizing stations, outdoor showers, and one-directional walkways and water slide paths will also be in place for optimal protection and enjoyment.

The safety measures mean water park visitors can cool down in the sun, work on their tans, and wash their inhibitions away on one of the many waterslides — 13 body and tube water slides to be exact — with peace of mind.

The BOOMERANGO, one of the park’s most prominent slides, will give you a thrilling sense of weightlessness as you glide back and forth on a tube — following a six-storey drop. It’s the only of its kind in Western Canada and is infamous among international waterparks, like Atlantis The Palms in Dubai and Wet n Wild in Las Vegas.

Race your friends down the Double Trouble slide and see who plunges first into the splash pool after coursing through 260-degree twists and loops.

Those in search of a chiller vibe will find much rest and relaxation in one of the park’s adult-only hot tubs.

This year, groups and families will also be allowed to bring one cooler of food and drinks to snack on and keep hydrated throughout the day — though outside alcohol will not be permitted.

For the added ease of having a central home base to relax and house your things, visitors will also have the option of enjoying the waterpark from the vantage point of a private cabana.

Those looking to enjoy a cool drink and some poolside snacks will be please to know the venue has a fully licensed bar and patio with summer-inspired cocktails, cold beers on tap, and in-house favourites like burgers, pizza, salads, poutines, and fish and chips. Catering is also available upon request.

You can even reserve a private picnic and patio table to ensure you have a shady place under an umbrella to hang out in between adventures.

Along with tickets, guests are encouraged to book a cabana online for a specific date to ensure admission. Cabana and table rentals will also allow guests to jump straight to the entry screening line for speedy access.
