Massey Tunnel Highway 99 northbound lanes closed due to fuel spill

The Ministry of Transportation says that all northbound lanes into the Massey Tunnel on Highway 99 between Richmond and Delta are closed.

There is a diesel fuel spill, prompting officials to shut down the tunnel until a full assessment and clean-up is made.

There are also reports of a vehicle collision on the southbound entrance of the Massey Tunnel.

Commuters and long weekend travellers to the border crossing, airport and ferry terminal are advised to allow more time to get to their destination and to use the Alex Fraser Bridge as their alternate route.

UPDATE at 1:07 p.m. – One northbound lane into the tunnel is now open.

UPDATE at 2:30 p.m. – Northbound lanes into the tunnel are fully reopened.
