Mary Poppins the broadway musical opened at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on July 17 and it was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Grand set with lots of neat tricks and visual illusions kept audiences surprised and on the edge of their seats and the acting and singing did not disappoint.
If you were a fan of Mary Poppins as a child, the production will bring back some nostalgic sentiments and like many, you’ll find yourself singing along to the classic tunes including Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Chim Chim Cheree, Feed the Birds, Jolly Holiday, Let’s Go Fly a Kite, A Spoonful of Sugar and other classics.
Key standout talent included of course Mary Popppins played by Rachel Wallace who had a uncanny resemblance to the character you know and love in both voice and look. Jane and Michael Banks were also outstanding – especially given their age. Every time I see one of these productions, I’m in awe of the talent and dedication of the talent and this show was no exception.
Mary Poppins plays in Vancouver until July 22. Buy tickets here.
