What a whirlwind the last few months have been for one of the newest members of the Vancouver Canucks.
Although whirlwinds are nothing new for Marco Rossi.
Over the past six months, Rossi was traded to the Canucks from Minnesota, played through injury, which at one point was touted as potentially career-ending. Then, he returned and found his game as a young leader on a rebuilding team.
Now, Rossi has tied the knot as well.
The Austrian centre posted on Instagram Friday that he got married to his longtime girlfriend, Stefanie.
Although the wedding location was unclear, it appears to be in Rossi’s home country of Austria. His new wife, Stefanie, recently posted bachelorette photos from a western Austrian hotel the previous weekend.
The 24-year-old is the second known Canuck this offseason to get married. Back in May, Brock Boeser’s wife showed off photos from his wedding.
Last summer, Elias Pettersson, Filip Chytil, and Kiefer Sherwood were among Canucks players to tie the knot.
Getting married by the age of 24 may sound a little young for most in Canada, considering the average age of marriage is 31 years old for women and 32 years old for men.
However, Rossi has shown a maturity beyond his years, shaped largely by his Christian faith and the hardships he’s endured through his hockey career.
“With everything I went through, you see everything different,” Rossi told Daily Hive back in March. “My point of view in life just changed.”
“When you’re young, you don’t really appreciate as much when you’re healthy, but when you go through a lot, you appreciate the little things way more, and it gives you a different perspective of life.”
Rossi is slated to be an important player on the Canucks next season, considering he was the team’s most effective centre down the stretch. He’s signed for two more seasons at a cap hit of $5 million.
