Manny Pacquiao Day Vancouver

Dec 19 2017, 12:42 pm

Soon the City of Vancouver is going to declare “Manny Pacquiao Day”. Unless you live in the Fraser Valley, you know that Vancouver has a very strong and growing Filipino community, centred mainly around Fraser Street, between 51st and 22nd avenue.

Thus, having “Manny Pacquiao Day” makes sense, even though the boxer doesn’t hail from the City of Vancouver, he does have ties to it.

For those of you who don’t follow boxing or have been living under a box the past few years, Manny Pacquiao is arguably the best pound for pound fighter on the planet right now. In his native Philippines he is a hero, a national treasure, like Gretzky is to us. Having him come to Vancouver, would be an honour.

The date for “Manny Pacquiao Day” has yet to be determined. Now what would be even greater is if somehow the mayor could get a fight sanctioned featuring Manny Pacquiao at the newly refurbished B.C. Place. One can only dream.
