According to B.C. Supreme Court documents, Trim’s alleged manhole fall incident on October 17, 2013 occurred when he stepped onto an unsecured cover. He is said to have suffered severe physical injuries to his right hand, legs and knees, and wants the City and the convenience store chain to cover his health care costs and potential loss of income as a result of the injuries.
He believes negligence was at fault and that the City and the convenience store had the responsibility of ensuring the manhole was cover and safe to step on. He claims there was no warning that the manhole area was unsafe.
The matter is expected to be settled in the courts in the coming weeks.
