Vancouver police are looking for witnesses, after a recent assault in the city’s Downtown Eastside left a man with life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the incident took place just after 9 pm on August 21, when a passerby “came across an injured man in the south lane of East Hastings Street, near Carrall Street.”

The man – a 49-year-old Vancouver resident – was taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Now, detectives from VPD’s Major Crime Section are investigating, and want to speak with anyone who may have information on exactly what happened.

“We need your help to solve this serious incident,” said VPD Sgt. Aaron Roed. “Even the smallest amount of information could help us find out what happened to this man.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Vancouver police’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541. Those who wish to leave an anonymous message can do so by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leaving a tip online.
