The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating after a man died shortly after being arrested by Surrey RCMP.
The man was take into custody on March 2 after officers responded to reports of a male causing a disturbance, according to a statement by the IIO. The male was reportedly arrested without incident and subsequently collapsed. He was then transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The IIO has since begun an investigation to determine if the death had anything to do with the actions or inactions of the officers involved.
