A man in his 20s is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Surrey overnight.

According to Surrey RCMP, the incident took place around 1:15 am, when officers responded to reports of the crash on Nordel Way, just East of 120th Street.

Police said a grey Camaro with two men inside was travelling westbound in the fast lane on Nordel Way, when a black Mustang also with two occupants in their late twenties inside, passed the Camaro, and the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the Mustang then lost control, and the vehicle went sideways into a hydro pole.

Police said the passenger in the Mustang succumbed from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mustang received serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The two occupants of the Camaro received minor injuries.

Police said it was raining “heavily” at the time of the collision, and Nordel Way was closed to traffic in both directions between 120th St and 88th Avenue, although it has since reopened.

Now, police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage of the collision or information about “how the vehicles were being driven,” to contact them at 604-599-0502.

Those who wish to leave an anonymous tip can do so by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or by leaving a tip online.
