Richmond RCMP says they are investigating after one man was killed when his vehicle hit a power pole in the city on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, the incident took place around 2 pm, when police were called to the area of No. 4 Road and Tomicki Avenue for reports of a single vehicle collision.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered that a vehicle had struck a power pole and sustained “catastrophic” damage.
The lone occupant of the vehicle — an 83-year-old Richmond resident — was rushed to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.

Now, Richmond RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) has assumed conduct of the investigation, and police are appealing to the public for any tips or information they may have.
Specifically, they are asking anyone who may have been driving in the area with possible dash-cam footage of the incident to contact them at 604-278-1212 and quote file #2019-38075.
