One man is facing first-degree murder charges after allegedly killing a man and a woman in Coquitlam last week.

Fifty-four-year-old Maurio Saheli, resident of Richmond, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder following the discovery of two bodies in a Coquitlam home on Thursday, July 16.

The victims were a 56-year-old B.C. woman and an Israeli man who had arrived in Canada only two days before his death.

Motive behind the murders is still under investigation, but RCMP believe Saheli was once in a relationship with the female victim.

Saheli will be in court on Thursday, July 23.
