Authorities in North Vancouver are asking the public for help to identify a suspect caught on tape swiping two Poppy cash donation boxes.

The two thefts took place between 9 and 10 p.m. on November 4, 2014. The male suspect took the donation box off the counter of a drug store on Lonsdale Avenue, then 20 minutes later stole the Poppy donation box from the counter of a gas station a few blocks away.

At the gas station, the suspect took the second donation box while paying for gas and goods “with numerous coins,” according to the North Vancouver RCMP.

“People give to the poppy fund out of respect and remembrance,” said Cpl. Richard De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP. “When someone steals a poppy box they are taking money from someone who has served our country.”

If you can identify this male you are asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
