A 23-year-old Surrey man was arrested on Sunday for driving a stolen vehicle and crashing it into three RCMP patrol vehicles.

Just before noon, police officers spotted the stolen pick-up truck near King George Boulevard and 84th Avenue in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood. The vehicle in question and two occupants, one driver and one passenger, were linked to other incidents of vehicle break-ins in the city on Saturday.

According to News 1130, when police reinforcements arrived, the driver made an attempt to flee the scene and rammed into three patrol vehicles – two of which were significantly damaged and had to be towed away.

The passenger ran away when the truck became too damaged to drive, but the 23-year-old driver was arrested at the scene of the attempted getaway. He is known to police.
