A 33 year old man arrested by Transit Police on Monday for slapping a young woman on the bum has failed to appear in court to face charges.

On July 28, at around 10:30 in the morning, two Transit Police Officers near Waterfront Station, caught a man “aggressively slap” a woman on the behind as she walked along Dunsmuir Street, before smiling and winking at her as he walked away.

Jean-Maries Richard Bertrand, who is apparently well known to police, was immediately arrested and charged with Assault. He was later released with the condition that he must make his next court appearance – something he failed to do, which has now led to a warrant for his arrest being issued.

Bertrand is described as a white male, 33 years old, 5’8” tall, 200lbs, heavy set, balding with short brown hair, brown eyes, and burn scars on his hands.

Anyone with information as to Bertrand’s whereabouts is asked to contact Transit Police at 604-515-8300.
