One man has been arrested by Vancouver Police in relation to a recent series of thefts and purse-snatchings in East Vancouver.

On December 12th, the Vancouver Police issued a warning to residents after three women were targeted in a rash of thefts and robberies that occurred in the area of East 49th Avenue and Elliott Street.

Investigators were able to identify a person-of-interest and made an arrest at about 2:00 yesterday afternoon. A search warrant was obtained and officers entered the man’s home shortly after the arrest looking for additional evidence.

Robbery, theft and fraud related charges have been recommended against a 28 year old Vancouver resident.

The investigation is ongoing and police will be reviewing all of the information obtained, along with re-interviewing victims and witnesses to determine if there is evidence to support and recommend additional charges.

Anyone with information about these incidents, who has not yet spoken with police, is asked to contact the VPD General Investigation Unit at (604) 717-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
