Sometimes, criminals unwittingly dial the police, making police work so much easier.

North Vancouver RCMP said they received a call on Tuesday from a man offering to buy marijuana from an unknown male caller. According to a police statement, the seller was apparently unaware that he had accidentally dialled the mobile phone of a police officer.

It is not every day that drug dealers call us to do business with them, said Cpl. Richard De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP. I am sure they were as surprised as we were!

Later that day, after some planning, the officer hid his amusement and made arrangements over the phone to purchase an amount of marijuana at an undisclosed location.

An undercover operation was launched, with plain clothes police making a buy and subsequently arresting two residents of Coquitlam: a 25-year-old male and a 23-year-old female.

Both drug dealers are now facing two recommended criminal charges of trafficking in marijuana and the possession of the purpose of trafficking. An amount of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine was found in their vehicle.
