Man with 200 police incidents arrested for sexual assault on transit bus

Metro Vancouver Transit Police arrested a 37 year old, White Rock man on Wednesday, January 8 following a sexual assault on a Coast Mountain bus.

At approximately 3:30 pm, the suspect was witnessed rubbing up against a 21 year old female passenger in a sexual manner, while on the bus, which was travelling from White Rock to Surrey. Transit Police officers took the suspect into custody, without incident, shortly after the bus arrived at the Surrey Central bus loop.

Arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault is Sebastian Ramon Lopez. He has been released on conditions.

Lopez is very well known to police with close to 150 previous police contacts, including nearly 50 contacts with T-Police.

Transit Police are committed to ensuring the safety, security and comfort of all customers on public transportation. This commitment includes a focus on targeting sexual offenders on the system, a Transit Police priority for 2014.
