Over the next week, an online auction is being hosted for a very good cause.
From June 4 to 10, the Night of Wonders Online Auction will raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s British Columbia and Yukon chapter. The virtual event typically takes place in the form of a physical gala, but this year’s event was unable to be held due to the ongoing pandemic.
Instead, over 500 items will be up for grabs through the online auction. Prizes include a getaway to the British Virgin Islands, an all-inclusive vacation, storm watching at the Wickaninnish Inn, and a Zoom Call with Jillian Harris and Jilly Box.
There are plenty of smaller prizes to be had as well, including a VIP shopping experience at Holt Renfrew, one-night hotel stays, gift cards, and designer jewellery.
Best of all, every item was generously donated, meaning that 100% of the funds raised will go to granting wishes in BC and Yukon.
“So far, more than 50 wishes in British Columbia have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” reads the website. “When it is safe, we will deliver the amazing wishes these children are waiting for, but we need the funds to do it.”
The online auction has a target goal of $150,000, with $40,000 raised at the time of writing. With donations down by nearly 80% this season, the success of the online auction is more important than ever.
“We are preparing to grant wishes throughout the BC & Yukon region at an unprecedented pace once it is safe to do so.”
A total of 530 items are up for grabs and can be found online through the auction website. Auction participants simply need to register online before they start bidding away. Donations can also be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with charitable tax receipts available for donations over $20.
