Major Surrey road closed due to gas line damage

Apr 10 2025, 11:10 pm

Damage to a gas line forced the closure of a section of King George Boulevard in Surrey as the Thursday afternoon rush hour began.

FortisBC confirmed damage to a gas main line was caused by an “external party” Thursday. Crews were on site to repair it, but King George Boulevard had to be closed from 78th Avenue to 80th Avenue.

TransLink added some bus routes were detouring because of the gas leak.

DriveBC hasn’t yet posted any updates on when the road could reopen. We’ll update this story when we learn more.
