The hockey bloodlines are strong with the Celebrini family.

And right now, the youngest in the family is tearing it up in Vancouver minor hockey.

R.J. Celebrini, who was born in 2012, is currently tearing it up for the North Shore Winter Club in the A1 circuit.

He currently has 38 goals and 84 points in just 31 games. That leads his team and is tops among players in his age group, according to publicly available data.

Celebrini has popped up in hockey circles as early as last season, when clips surfaced of his success in minor hockey league circuits.

The youngest Celebrini is looking to become the third in his family to be drafted to the NHL. Eldest brother Aiden was selected by the Canucks in the sixth round of the 2023 draft, while Macklin was picked first overall by the San Jose Sharks in 2024.

Macklin is currently having a breakout sophomore season. He’s tied for second in NHL scoring with Connor McDavid with 34 points. He’s also third in the league with 14 goals.

As for R.J., the A1 hockey circuit isn’t the most competitive level in the province. However, it is where Vancouver-born star Connor Bedard got his start.

Although Bedard played a level higher than R.J. as a 13-year-old, his stat line of 88 points in 30 games bears an eerie resemblance to what the youngest Celebrini has posted this season.

But, even if R.J. isn’t the next Macklin or Bedard, an improbably high bar to reach, the future looks bright for him.

Not only is R.J. tearing it up, but much like his brothers, his favourite hockey team is also the Vancouver Canucks.

As a player born in 2012, R.J. would be draft-eligible in either 2030 or 2031.
