Luxurious Vancouver home listed for almost double last sold price

A luxurious Vancouver home in the Shaughnessy neighbourhood was recently listed for an asking price nearly double the amount it last sold for.
The five-bedroom home, which features 6,260 sq. ft. of living space, was built in 2008.
In 2013, the home was listed for $11,880,000 and ended up selling for $9,880,000. Now, it has been listed for an asking price of $18,800,000. The most recent assessed value of the home pegs it at $12,759,000. That’s the highest value the home has seen.
The eXp Realty listing calls the home a masterpiece of craftsmanship and architectural splendour.

According to the most recent assessment, the land ($7,137,000) is valued higher than the buildings ($5,622,000). The home may have seen improvements since that value was assessed on July 1, 2024.
The home is located in the First Shaughnessy area on a lot of 14,659 sq. ft. Along with the five bedrooms, the home also offers six bathrooms and other luxurious touches.

Since the home was last sold, there were two prior listings before the current one, both expired without attracting a buyer.

There’s also a swimming pool. With summer around the corner, it could be perfect if you had $18 million.

Pictures of the home highlight that most of the house is designed with a fairly open concept, with lots of space to move around.

There’s also an outdoor cabana, a jacuzzi, and like many homes in the area, a media room.

There’s also a landscaped garden, and the listing says there’s “meticulous attention to detail.”
If you were to make a play for this luxurious Vancouver home, with a standard five-year fixed-rate mortgage on a 20 per cent down payment, you’d be looking at monthly payments of around $80,000 per month!
And you thought your rent was a lot.
