Love-themed installations are popping up around Vancouver this month

Love is in the air as the most romantic time of the year approaches. But after the past 12 months, we can all agree that extended Valentine’s Day celebrations are needed in 2021.

For you, that could involve celebrating the love you have for your forever person, your bubble, or your Zoom date these days (or all of the above) — anything that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

This year, 16 Business Improvement Associations across the city are teaming up to host a month-long #FindLove initiative through February. Vancouverites can anticipate everything from giant installations (think sweetheart candies) to murals, glistening lights, and plenty of opportunities to enter contests and warm their hearts.

Our local neighbourhoods have love to share, and by discovering it this month, you could win up to $6,000 in prizes.

There’s going to be massive Instagrammable sweetheart candies located on West 4th Avenue, in the Downtown core, and in South Granville. Additionally, you’ll find an umbrella installation at Bill Curtis Square in Yaletown (and another on Main Street), plus giant wooden hearts on Cambie, murals, twinkling lights, decals, and plenty of hearts located all around the city for you to uncover.

The neighbourhoods participating in the contest include Yaletown, Cambie, West 4th Avenue, Downtown Vancouver, Collingwood, West Broadway, Gastown, Point Grey, the West End, South Granville, Marpole, the East Village, Robson, Strathcona, Dunbar Village, and Mount Pleasant.

Since we’re all more familiar with adventuring through the city on walks these days, it’s the perfect reason to get out and explore your local area or venture to the one you haven’t been to in a while. All you have to do is visit any of the Instagrammable spots in any of the 16 aforementioned neighbourhoods to celebrate love.

When you do, be sure to snap some photos and tag the individual neighbourhood on social media to enter daily contests, including the hashtags #LoveYourCityContest and #FindLoveYaletown or #FindLoveWestEnd (or another participating neighbourhood).

Each love-themed installation will have a QR code that explains the details of each neighbourhood contest along with directions on how to win the overall grand prize. The winner of this all-encompassing prize will take home gift cards and hotel stays worth up to $6,000.

There has never been a better time to rediscover the spots you know and love in your city (and maybe some new ones, too). Almost every neighbourhood installation will be in place for the month of February, and you’ll have the whole month to enter the contest.
