After a slew of 7-Eleven closures around Metro Vancouver, another convenience store franchise has announced the closure of a long-running Commercial Drive location.
Last week, Daily Hive discovered “For Lease” signs at the Commercial Drive Circle K. Today, a Daily Hive reader tipped us off that the Circle K on Commercial Drive was closing.
After calling the convenience store, we were able to confirm that the report is true and that the location at 2601 Commercial Dr. is closing.
The Circle K employee was not able to provide a specific date for the closure but informed Daily Hive that it would be closing at the end of the month.
Folks familiar with the neighbourhood may remember that the Circle K used to be a Mac’s store. It transitioned over to a Circle K location sometime in the late 2010s.
There’s also now a listing for the property, which has been listed for sale at $141,650 yearly.
The listing says that it’s a “prime retail opportunity in the heart of Vancouver East.”
“The functional layout features expansive storefront glazing, high ceilings, and open retail area, making it well-suited for a variety of uses,” the listing adds.

The listing offers various options for what could potentially go in place of the Circle K, including another convenience store, grocery, quick-service retail, or other retail concepts “in one of Vancouver’s most vibrant commercial corridors.”
It seems to be an interesting time for convenience stores around Metro Vancouver.
In recent months, swaths of Metro Vancouver 7-Eleven locations have closed, including some in the downtown Vancouver area and others in surrounding regions like New West and South Vancouver. The most recent 7-Eleven closure was the one on Hamilton Street late last month.
According to Circle K’s store list, there are approximately 50 locations in B.C., including Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
