If you caught a glimpse of the top of the iTunes charts yesterday, you may have seen a familiar face. Local country singer Madeline Merlo released her EP yesterday, with her well-known single “Sinking Like a Stone” as well as her just-released single “Alive”.

The 20-year-old country singer has been singing since she was six, and along the way has developed a love for the guitar, piano and even the harmonica.

Merlo’s self-titled EP reached no. 1 on iTunes for Canadian Country Album/EP yesterday, and no. 2 on iTunes for country, hovering right above Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert.

After just returning from Las Vegas to shoot a video for “Alive,” the Maple Ridge-native has already had a big week, and she’s still trying to grasp what’s happening.

She’s been keeping her fans up to date with her EP’s status on her Facebook page, while expressing just how excited she is.

“Sooo this is what an actual heart attack feels like… NUMBER 3!!? A Blake and Miranda sandwich too!!” she posted after her EP shot up the country music charts.

Merlo’s first arena-performance was earlier this year at the Abbotsford Entertainment Centre where she opened for Dean Brody, and her career has gone nowhere but up since.

Merlo’s EP is now available on iTunes. You can purchase it here.
