Oct 3 2018, 10:51 pm

Overnight lane closures are coming to the Lions Gate Bridge this week.

The announcement comes from the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, who explained earlier today that “maintenance work is needed to replace key structural components of the bridge.”

Drivers should expect delays on Thursday, October 4 from 9:30 pm to 5:30 am the next day.

The following lane closures will be in effect:

  • On Thursday, October 4 from 9:30 to 10:30 pm: One lane will be open in each direction.
  • From 10:30 pm to 5:30 am the next day: Single-lane, alternating traffic.

Commuters are advised to use the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge as an alternative route.

Drivers are kindly reminded to obey the signs, reduce speed, and watch for any workers and traffic control staff.

Crews will be replacing bearings near the south tower.
